NEW CROP ONIONS ARE HERE and then they aren’t!

The new crop Mexican onions are now starting to cross the border.  We are 1/2 through the early Mexican crop and we are 1800 loads behind last year already.  The late Mexican crop, which had started by now last year, won’t start before the 20th of March and maybe later. With very high prices in Mexico for their onions we are not seeing as much cross the border.  We don’t expect to see much relief until we get to late April or early May and that will depend on the late Mexican crop finishing out as well as the Texas crop and the early California crop.  As May West once said, “Hang on Honey, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!”
